Most portrait sessions feel like a performance — stiff smiles, everyone holding their breath, waiting for it to be over. The images look fine, but they don't feel like anyone in them.
I work differently. I slow things down, get everyone comfortable, and wait for the moments that actually look like you. The laugh that's real. The way a parent looks at their kid. The quiet in-between. Those are the images that end up on the wall for thirty years.
I've photographed first dates and golden anniversaries, newborns and grandparents, high school seniors and blended families of eight. Every session starts with the same thing: a real conversation about what matters to you and what would make these images feel true.

I've heard "we're not really photo people" more times than I can count. Here's what I do about it.
No pressure, no rush
Sessions are paced around you — not around a checklist. If kids need a snack break, we take one. If you need five minutes to relax before we start, we take them. The best images happen when nobody feels like they're on a clock.
Real moments over posed perfection
I give light direction and let things unfold naturally from there. I'm watching for the genuine laugh, the sidelong glance, the spontaneous hug — not waiting for everyone to say cheese. Posed shots have their place; I just don't stop there.
Every age, every family
From toddlers who won't sit still to grandparents who insist they hate cameras, I've worked with every configuration. There's no ideal family type, no perfect body, no right age for portraits. If you're here, this session is for you.

Your gallery is delivered privately with a full print release — you own your images and can print them anywhere, at any size, without asking permission. I'll also send personalized recommendations for which images print best at large sizes.
